Before & After: Watersound 1
It all started with a little paint….
When the young, fun Dent Family purchased their charming, beach house in the picturesque Watersound community on Highway 30A, they knew they wanted to put a fresh spin on this tired house. The house had great bones, but desperately needed a paint job. They called Oak & Anchor for help with paint colors, and the rest is history!
The drab yellow paint and dated fixtures and furnishings made it feel much older than it was. Anxious to spend Thanksgiving in their new home, we had just a few weeks to go from drab to fab. We agreed to a small remodel and made only cosmetic updates – fresh paint, a few new fixtures, a deep cleaning, and our O&A magic- clean, casual, coastal furnishings that gave this house an ease and a breeze you can only find at the beach.

White Slipcover Sectional – We love a classic, white, slipcovered sectional. Though white isn’t for everyone, a sectional definitely could be. They come in all shapes, sizes, and configurations and offer cozy vibe. They also take advantage of that “dead corner” that’s often created with a sofa/love seat or sofa/chair combination and offer an extra seat – the best in the house!
Reclaimed Wood Coffee Table – A wood coffee table adds an organic, rustic vibe. Caution: wood can show water and oil spots. Top with a piece of glass for a table that’s gorgeous and durable. You can go coaster - and worry - free.
Seagrass Rug - Seagrass rugs are a staple in any beach house. For a designer look, layer a cowhide rug over it (we go faux). Find our O&A Fave faux cowhide here.
Quatrefoil End Tables – Fun fact: The quatrefoil shape is the ancient symbol for good luck. We love it’s pretty, symmetrical shape and the fact that you can find it throughout the pages of history and architecture. This classy clover puts a fun spin on the traditional round or square side tables.

X Back Dining Chairs – We use this x-back style chair in just about every home we furnish. It has the beloved farmhouse vibe but is also classic enough to withstand the trends of time. Pair opposing finishes together to avoid the dreaded “tried to match and missed” decorating fail.
Solid Wood Dining Table – A reclaimed wood dining table is like a great pair of black pants – very versatile and looks good with just about anything. Glam it up with tufted, upholstered chairs or go super casual with a rustic bench. Add metallics for a sexy spin on rustic.
Parsons Dining Chair – These upholstered chairs work perfect at the head of the table. Mix-up the side chairs for an eclectic look– in this case, we think the x-back chairs are a perfect pairing.

Wingback Upholstered Headboard - An upholstered headboard is effortlessly chic. A wingback style (where the sides flair-out) adds another element of cool. Go with a neutral, versatile fabric and add pops of color with pillows, rugs, and accessories.”
Black End Tables – These tables are ridiculously versatile and can be used just about anywhere. They’re perfect for a light and airy bedside table or use them as an end table next to a sofa. They’re just the right height for either.
